IEC Certificate

Import Export (IE) Code is a registration required for persons importing or exporting goods and services from India. IE Code is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India. IEC code application must be made to the Directorate General of Foreign Trade along with the necessary supporting documents.

How to get IEC Certificate

  • Visit Online Website for IEC registration. On the same page click on “Apply for New Import Export Code(IEC)/Modify existing IEC.

  • Mention your login PAN card details. Make sure that the details you enter are accurate.

  • The PAN card number will be verified as per the CBDT (Central Board of Direct Tax) record.

  • Once verification is done mention your mobile number and E-mail address, the E-mail address and the mobile number cannot be changed and it will be useful for login purpose. Complete the CAPTCHA process

  • You will receive an OTP (Serial Number) on the registered E-mail address and Contact number.

  • As soon as the c details are verified enter the business details, Proprietorship/Parnership or any other firm.

  • Mention the applicant details in the section below.

  • In case its director, mention the DIN (Directors Identification Number).

  • In case its a company, mention the CIN (Company Identification Number).

  • If a company has a branch, mention the branch details.

  • Submit the required documents as per the firm.

  • Make the payment and submit.

  • Once you will submit, the applicant will receive the IEC code within a few minutes.

Mandatory Requirements to apply for IEC Code Number

LLP/ Company/ Proprietor’s 

  • PAN

  • Address proof of Establishment - Any utility Bill/ Rent Agreement.

  • Canceled Cheque of Company Account, Proprietary Account.

  • Company Incorporation/ Partnership/ Proprietorship Documents.


  • PAN

  • Partners/ Directors/ Proprietor Adhaar Card.

  • Photo of partners/ Directors/ Proprietor.

  • Resolution from the company/ partnership authorizing anyone designated partner to apply for IEC Registration and the authorized designated partner’s digital signature.

Check List of Documents to apply for IEC Code

  • Covering Letter on your company's letterhead for the issue of new IEC Code Number.

  • Two copies of the application in the prescribed format (Aayaat Niryaat Form ANF 2A) must be submitted to your regional Jt.DGFT Office.

  • Each individual page of the application has to be signed by the applicant.

  • Part 1 & Part 4 has to be filled in by all applicants. In case of applications submitted electronically.

  • No hard copies of Part 1 may be submitted. However in cases where applications are submitted otherwise, hard copy of Part 1has to be submitted.

  • Only relevant portions of Part 2 need to be filled in.

  • Certificate from the Banker of the applicant firm in the format given in
    Appendix 18A.

  • Self-certified copy of PAN issuing letter or PAN (Permanent Account Number) Card issued by Income Tax Authority.

  • Two copies of passport size photographs of the applicant duly attested by the Banker of the applicant.
